To Burn Fats And Lose Weight With Carnitine
62It’s very important to notify you that carnitine is not a magical substance and its intake only won’t burn fats and lose weight.
Carnitine is a compound that can be detected in nearly all cells of the human body. It’s synthesized mainly in the liver and kidneys from lysine and methionine. Its biologically active form is L-carnitine. (D-carnitine is an inactive form.)
There are three types of fatty acids according to the number of carbon (C) atoms in the human body - long chain fatty acids, medium chain fatty acids and short chain fatty acids. Fatty acids are an energetic resource and produce energy after being burned in cell structures called mitochondria. Mitochondria contain inner and outer membranes. Short and medium chain fatty acids can directly go through the membranes and be oxidized but long chain fatty acids can’t! They have to be transported across the inner membrane in order to be oxidized! The main function of carnitine is to transport long chain fatty acids into the mitochondrial inner space!
The fats stored in the human body are triglycerides. When the triglycerides undergo lipolysis, long chain fatty acids are released into the bloodstream. These long chain fatty acids enter the cells and need carnitine in order to be transported and burned.
The most fatty acids are burned in the muscles in physical activity but the heart, the liver and other organs also use fatty acids for energy. The muscles break down fatty acids not only in physical activity but also at rest.
The most natural sources of carnitine are red meet (beef, pork, chicken, fish etc) and diary products (milk, cheese, cottage cheese etc). Other sources: wheat, whole wheat bred, wheat bran, white bread, rice, corn, oat, avocado etc.
L-carnitine is produced and sold as a supplement. Can be found as powder, capsules, granules or liquid.
How to intake carnitine?
Creatine has to be combined whit physical activity, diet or both to be effective. A dose can be taken 2-3 hours before physical activity. If someone doesn’t have dinner then can take a dose before going to bed. In my opinion the daily dose of carnitine has to be 1 – 2g, i.e. 1 – 2g per day. A dose per one intake: 0.5 – 1g.
Currently, products containing L-carnitine cannot be marketed in Canada as natural health products and are not allowed to be imported into Canada!
I don’t know why. I have no information about other countries did that! I just want to write you everything to be informed and to have a benefit. If someone thinks that L-carnitine is not a natural health product, it needn’t take it! There are natural sources of carnitine aforementioned!
Benefits from carnitine intake:
- accelerate fat burning an weight lose (when is combined with physical activity, diet, or both);
- decrease triglycerides levels in the blood;
- antioxidant properties.
